What is a Hospitalist?

Hospital medicine is a type of practice within internal medicine and pediatrics in which the clinical focus is caring for hospitalized patients. Internists and pediatricians practicing hospital medicine are frequently referred to as “hospitalists.” Hospitalists oversee the complex medical care involved in the treatment of hospitalized patients and work with primary care physicians to improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.
